General-purpose AI is good at reasoning and bad at knowing what your market is doing this week.
Public sector market data is fragmented by design. Agencies publish on different schedules, in different formats, across different contract vehicles. Task orders surface on ordering portals that never touch SAM.gov — Govly estimates that 80–90% of solicitations never appear there at all. State and local procurement is more scattered still.

What is the Govly Claude Connector?
The Govly Claude Connector is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration that gives Claude authenticated access to your Govly account. Claude can search Govly's opportunity data, run and update your saved searches, and reason over the results in the same conversation where your other business tools live.
It appears in Claude's connector directory as Govly, described as "the AI platform that helps you win more government business," and is positioned for building smarter capture workflows and AI agents.
What can you do with Govly inside Claude?
Once connected, Claude can:
- Search opportunities across federal and SLED markets
- Run your existing saved searches against the live index, so the logic you've already tuned carries into Claude
- Create and update saved searches, including award saved searches, so a research session ends in standing coverage instead of a one-off answer
- Work with award history and incumbency — who holds the work, what it's worth, when the period of performance ends
- Follow opportunities, awards, and contacts, with follows unified across Govly AI, MCP, and the Tools API
- Read signals on the programs you're tracking
- Reason over Govly data alongside your other connectors — CRM records, email and chat, and your own product and proposal documentation
A capture workflow in three prompts - example
The clearest way to see the difference is an illustrative sequence from our demo. The whole thing is three prompts.
Prompt 1 — Use Govly to find cybersecurity accounts to target in GFY2027
Claude runs a saved search against the live index and returns expiring awards organized by urgency, in a table of account, program, incumbent, expiring value, and end date. More to the point, it makes a distinction most exported spreadsheets don't: it separates true recompetes, where period-of-performance end equals potential end and the contract genuinely runs out, from option-year boundaries, where the work extends and you're looking at an incumbent-displacement conversation instead. In the demo run it also flags the outlier at the top — one award expiring in eleven weeks with no option runway, which means a bridge is already moving or a solicitation is overdue.
Prompt 2 — Who is the incumbent on these and when do they recompete?
Claude searches opportunities to add the layer the award data doesn't have: when each requirement actually hits the street. Period-of-performance end tells you when the work stops, not when you can bid it. Claude also notes where nothing is posted yet, and usefully says so explicitly rather than treating absence of data as absence of activity.
Prompt 3 — ask which of those targets fit your capability statement.
Claude sorts the list into strong fits as prime, friction, and not-as-prime, reasoning across vehicle eligibility, set-aside status, NAICS coverage, past performance, and cleared-staff requirements. That's a bid/no-bid first pass in a single conversation.
Then it offers to set up a saved opportunity search that alerts on those program names, so the postings come to you as they drop.
Three prompts, and the output is a prioritized target list with reasoning attached — not a CSV someone has to spend Thursday afternoon interpreting.
It works with the rest of your GTM stack
The connector's value compounds because Claude can hold Govly next to everything else. In the same session, Claude can reach your CRM, email and calendar, documents, and team comms through their own connectors — HubSpot, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Slack among them.
Because Claude can hold those side by side, workflows like these become possible:

How to add the Govly connector to Claude
- In Claude, open the + menu and choose Connectors → Add connector → Browse connectors.
- Search for Govly and open the result.
- Click Connect and complete the sign-in steps in the browser tab that opens to authorize your Govly account.
- Start prompting. Ask Claude to use Govly explicitly on your first few queries.

If you're on a Claude Business or Enterprise plan, a workspace admin needs to add the connector for your organization before individual users can enable it. Worth checking before you start.

Requirements and limitations
- A paid Govly account is required to connect. Adding the connector itself is open to anyone; getting data flowing requires an active plan.
- Claude Business/Enterprise accounts require admin approval to add the connector.
- Claude's automation settings are per-user, not centrally administered — if scheduled tasks don't run, check your own Claude settings first.
- Coverage is Govly's coverage. The connector reflects what agencies have published and what Govly indexes. Absence of an opportunity means nothing is public, not that nothing is moving. Agency and procurement forecasts remain a separate research step.
- Govly is listed as a Community connector in Claude's directory. As Claude notes, community connectors have undergone automated review and may not yet meet the quality tier of verified connectors.
